Clark, Karpency Victorious!

Former WBC#1 lightweight contender Michael “Cold Blood” Clark (38-5-1) was impressive in stopping Chris Overbey (9-12-1) Friday night at the Waterfront Place Hotel in Morgantown, West Virginia. From the onset, Clark used lightning fast combinations to overwhelm his opponent. After dropping Overbey in the second, Clark continued to display superior skills before referee Pete McGinley called a halt to the action at 2:49 of the fourth round.
In the co-feature, WBC#34 and WBA Fedecentro light heavy champ, Tommy Karpency (17-1-1) won a unanimous decision over veteran Eric Howard (11-16). Karpency had Howard down in the first, fifth and sixth rounds of the one-sided yet spirited fight.
In other action, heavyweight prospect Jason Pettaway (2-0) stopped Alan Prescott (2-4) at 2:46 of the third round, while heavyweight Jason Bergman improved to (9-8) as he TKO’d Maurice Winslow (3-9) at 2:14 of the second stanza. Also, female heavyweight Tiffany Woodard raised her record to (2-2) with a TKO victory over Valerie Walker (0-1) at 1:14 of the first round. Simons’ Promotions next card will take place at the Waterfront Place Hotel in August.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
