Clarkson headlines Paulie Ayala’s March 22nd show

By Jeff Zimmerman

After 10 fights in the last two years, crowd pleasing super middleweight Samuel “The Main Event” Clarkson (10-2, 6KO) makes his 2014 debut Saturday, March 22nd at the Cendera Center in Forth Worth, Texas as the headliner for Paulie Ayala’s first show of the new year. Clarkson will be fighting journeyman William Johnson (10-34-2-3) out of Sardis, Mississippi. Clarkson brings lots of excitement whenever he fights and loves to get under his opponent’s skin during pre-fight activities. He’s typically a fast starter and will look for the knockout early, although in his 2 losses, one to savvy veteran Don Mouton and the other to tough Jas Phipps, he tired late and suffered devastating losses.

Clarkson, though, is coming off of 3 straight wins and there is no reason to think his current 4 month layoff will slow down his entertaining style in the ring or his chirping outside the ring come fight week.

Clarkson is promoted by Paulie Ayala Productions, led by the 2X world champion Paulie Ayala. There will be 7 boxing matches and 1 MMA fight on the card.

Tickets are on sale now at Tickets start at $38 for general admission and $45 for reserved seating. Ringside tables are available for $2,000 and include hors d’oeuvre and complimentary beer and wine. Doors open at 6:30 with the first fight scheduled for 8:00.

Proceeds from the event will benefit two great causes – Paulie Ayala’s Punching out Parkinson’s and Safe Haven, a mission to end domestic violence.

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
