Cloud/Woods in the works!

By Lee Bates

Richie Boy Promotions, who represents unbeaten # 1 IBF ranked contender Tavoris Cloud (19-0, 18 KOs), bid $191,000 to beat out the $105,000 bid of Dennis Hobson Promotions, who promotes former IBF light heavyweight champion and #2 IBF ranked Clinton Woods (42-4-1, 24 KOs). Richie Boy Promotions now has the rights to promote the bout between Cloud and Woods. The two are fighting for the vacant IBF light heavyweight title that was vacated by former champion Chad Dawson. Woods defeated Elvir Muriqi by unanimous decision in his last bout this past February in an IBF title eliminator. Cloud on the other hand has not fought in nearly a year dating back to his 10th round TKO victory over former WBO light heavyweight champion Julio Gonzalez in August of 2008 becoming the first to stop Gonzalez in 46 professional bouts.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
