Colorado prospects in action

By Eric ‘Sugar Foot’ Duran/Rocky Mountain Boxing

Tonight, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Galvadon Promotions debuts with its initial boxing card. The line up features three of Colorado’s up and coming unbeaten prospects in Izaak Cardona, Chris Galvadon and Donovan Estrella.

Super middleweight Izaak Cardona will face Katrell Straus in the main event. Cardona is a perfect 7-0 with 7 stoppages. Straus is a tough fighter who can punch but has shown durability issues in bouts. Cardona is a heavy handed puncher who punishes his opponents with a vicious body attack. This bout, at sometime, will produce fireworks.

In the co-main, hot featherweight prospect Chris Galvadon will look for his third straight win to open his career. Galvadon destroyed John Nunez in his debut and punished Hilario Medina in last outing. His opponent will be Brandon Salazar of Albuquerque, NM.

A feature bout that will take place, showcases rising lightweight prospect “Slick” Donovan Estrella. Estrella will be looking to go to 4-0 in his young career. Also, it will be his second bout under new trainer, Donald Camarena. It will be interesting to see how fighter and trainer will begin to mesh, as they both have similar fighting styles. His opponent will be Jeremy Wise.

Rounding out the card is welterweight Antonio Diaz vs Julio Miramontes and lightweight Ruben Jacoby vs. Angel Ramos

The bouts will be held at the Freedom Financial Expo Center. Doors open at 6pm with the first bell ringing at 7pm.

Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.
