Colorado Springs ‘Throwdown’ shaping up

By Chris Morris/Rocky Mountain News

On Saturday April 25th, Galvadon Promotions presents ‘Colorado Springs Throwdown,’ featuring local talent and several highly regarded prospects.

The main event will see Izaak Cardona look to keep his KO streak alive, he is 7-0 and nobody has seen the final bell. His opponent will be very tough Katrell Straus. Straus put on the fight of the night last year when he and John Montgomery each went to the canvass more than once before Straus stopped him in the fourth.

The co main has one of Colorado’s hottest prospects in Chris Galvadon, 2-0, 1KO, a feather weight with fast hands and a lightning left hook, taking on Albuquerque’s Brandon Salazar. The undercard is looking good as well with Antonio Diaz taking on Julio Miramontes in a light welter tilt. Ruben Jacoby will fight Angel Ramos at lightweight. Jeremy Ramos will take on Independent, Kansas’ tough as nails Joel Vargas.

Rounding out the card will be another up and coming prospect in Donovan Estrella. Estrella has shown flashes of brilliance in the ring as he continues to gain much needed experience. He is young so there is no rush with his progress. His foe will be Jeremy Wise.

The bouts will be held at the Freedom Financial Expo Center located at 3650 N. Nevada in Colorado Springs. Doors open at six with the first bell at seven. Tickets can be bought at the door or by calling 719-217-2275. Ringside will be $40 with General Admission being $25.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
