Concepcion rejects Montiel fight

By Gabriel F. Cordero

Former WBA super flyweight champion Rafael “Torito” Concepcion has rejected an offer to fight WBC/WBO bantamweight champion Fernando “Cochulito” Montiel on July 17. According to Concepcion, Zanfer Promotions offered $20,000. “They know that offer is very little and therefore I won’t fight. I’m a boxer with a lot of class,” said Concepcion. Other sources indicate that Concepcion could replace Jorge Arce in Texas on June 26 against WBO interim champion Eric Morel. In any event, Concepcion has a fight on June 19 against Felipe Murillo in Chiriquí, Panama.
