Confesor Hernandez to defend belt August 10

WBC light flyweight champion Adrian “Confesor” Hernandez will make the third defense of his world championship against #12 rated Atsushi Kakutani on August 10 at a venue to be named in Mexico City on a card promoted by Sergio Cortes/Punch Sports and televised on promoter, which will be broadcast by Televisa. Hernandez regained the title against Kompayak Porpramook last October and has defended it successfully against Dirceu Cabarcas and Yader Cardoza, with all three bouts taking place in his hometown of Toluca, Mexico. Japan’s Kakutani has previously fought for his domestic belt, but this will be his first world title tilt. The 27-year-old Hernandez brings a record of 27-2-1 with 16 knockouts, while the 28-year-old Kakutani has a ledger of 13-3-1, 6 KOs.
