IBF junior middleweight champion Cory Spinks (37-5, 11 KOs) has received 12 months probation for drunk driving in Vero Beach, Florida. Spinks also received 200 hours of community service, a $500 fine, plus court costs and $4,000+ in restitution. Spinks, who crashed his car into a parked vehicle in April, pleaded no contest to the drunk driving charge.
Spinks hasn’t fought since April 2009 when he won the vacant IBF belt against Deandre Latimore. His scheduled June 12 defense against Cornelius “K9” Bundrage was postponed by promoter Don King due to a scheduling conflict. That bout is expected to land on DKP’s August 7 card in St. Louis featuring Devon Alexander against Andreas Kotelnik and Tavoris Cloud against Glen Johnson.
