Cotto, Margarito speak

By Mike Bernier

At the Theatre at MSG Top Rank held a press conference for the media. Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum was thrilled with the turn out of the show, saying it was ‘just magic.’ The attendance was 21,239. WBA super welterweight champion Miguel Cotto stated that he had a great camp preparing for this fight. As for future plans, Cotto stated he would like time to rest before he thinks about what is next for him.

Meanwhile Antonio Margarito, who received 12 stitches, was unhappy about the stoppage. “The doctor asked me three times. I responded correctly. I asked for at least one more round,” said Margarito, who added that if he was giving more time the fight would have ended in the later rounds just like the first time the two met in 2008.

After tonight’s 12 round decision over Sebastian Lujan, welterweight Mike Jones will fight for the vacant IBF title against Randall Bailey.

In a much anticipated rematch Delvin Rodriguez won a convincing ten round fight against Pawel Wolak. “I wanted to take his head off,” said Rodriguez.

Brandon Rios wasn’t available for comment.

HBO representative, Kerry Davis, announced that the replay of the main event will be next Saturday at 9:45PM EST, December 11th at 8:45PM and December 12th at 11:45PM. HBO Latino will broadcast the undercard bouts on Thursday at 10PM.
