Crash victims benefit in Buffalo!

Boxing promoter Nick Garone of X-Cel Worldwide has announced he will donate $1 from every ticket sold to his “Return of Buffalo Boxing” event to the families of the 49 passengers killed in the crash of a Continental Flight 3407 near Buffalo.

The New Jersey-based Garone says he has been welcomed with open arms by the people of Buffalo and is happy to be able to give back. “I think it’s the right thing to do in this situation. The people of Buffalo have shown me tremendous kindness since I set up a base of operations here and this is an opportunity to pay some of that back.”

“The Return of Buffalo Boxing”, will feature an NABA-US Light Heavyweight Championship bout between two-time super middleweight world champion Byron “Slama from Bama” Mitchell (26-4-1, 19 KOs) and former NABA-US champ Zach “Jungle Boy” Walters (23-3, 18 KOs).

The co-main event will spotlight Buffalo heavyweight Paul “The Italian Hit Man” Marinaccio.

Scheduled for the undercard are Meacher Major (15-3-1, 13 KOs) of the Bahamas, Pro Debuting Buffalo natives Lionel Thompson and Greg Brady, as well as Guilderland, New York’s undefeated light welterweight Michael Faragon, Rochester, New York’s Harvey Murray and heavyweight Johnny Davis of Niagara20Falls, New York.

Tickets for “Return of Buffalo Boxing” are priced $30, $50 and $100, and are available by calling 631.878.1676.

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
