Cronjie beats Wilson again

By Ray Wheatley — World of Boxing

Australian-based South African heavyweight Pieter Cronjie (10-4-1, 6 KOs) stopped Colin Wilson (35-26-1, 21 KOs) at the Mansfield Tavern, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Wilson suffered a knee injury and the referee called it off at 1:29 of round four. Cronjie previously defeated Wilson via six round points decision in 2007. Cronjie is now scheduled to meet Alex Leapai (20-3-3, 16 KOs) in a rematch on December 4 at the Gold Coast Convention Center, Broadbeach, Queensland.

Leapia, who outscored Cronjie in the best Australian fight for 2008, recently defeated American heavyweights Travis Walker in four rounds and former world heavyweight challenger Owen Beck in six rounds.

Cronjie is now training at Sam Davidson at his Perth gym and is managed by Daniel Davidson.

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
