The rematch between IBF featherweight champion Cristóbal “Lacandón” Cruz (39-11-2, 23 KOs) and Orlando “Siri” Salido (33-10-2, 22 KOs) is set for Saturday at the Estadio Tomas Oroz Gaytan in Ciudad Obregon, Sonora, Mexico. Cruz, who beat Salido by split decision in 2008 to win the vacant belt, will be making his fourth defense. Salido, who has the hometown advantage in the rematch, has been aching for revenge ever since. They faced off during Tuesday’s presser.
“I’ve prepared like never before, better than the first time against Cristóbal, and will fight an intelligent fight to get the belt,” Salido promised the throng of media in attendance.
Cruz admitted that this is the one of the hardest fights of his career, but in the end he vowed to be the one with his hard raised. “You have to knock me out, because points will be very difficult,” he told Salido.
