In the main event of ‘Boxeo Boricua in Caguas,’ Luis “El Artesano” Cruz obtained the WBC-affiliated USNBC featherweight title with a KO victory over veteran contender Jesus “El Dificil” Perez at 1:35 of round four. Perez’ corner stopped the fight after a devastating knockdown. “It’s my first title, I feel very happy with the support shown by my hometown fans of Las Piedras that came to see me fight here in Caguas. Jesus is very strong fighter, and had a lot of expirience but we dominated him taking advantage of his mistakes,” Luis Cruz said. Known as “El Artesano,” he improved his record to 11-0, 9 KOs. Promoter Miguel Cotto said “Luis is a very exciting fighter to watch. He has a lot of skills, can box, move around and punch really hard. He will be fighting again in the month of August in front of his hometown fans in Las Piedras. It will definitely be a great show.” In another bout, Abner “Pin” Cotto had a impressive KO win over Jonathan González in the second round. Cotto improved his record to 3-0, 3 KOs.
