Cuello vows to derail Alvarez

WBC #14 welterweight Luciano Cuello (26-1, 12 KOs) of Argentina is ready for his second battle in Mexican territory when he fights undefeated WBC #3 rated Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (32-0-1, 24 KOs) on July 10 for the WBC silver championship in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. “I’ve been working very hard to have a victory without any doubt” said Cuello, who has also fought Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. “Mexican fans were pleased with my performance in the ring last time, but I’m sorry to say this time nobody will stop me and I’ll return to my country with that silver-green crown,” Cuello said. “Those who know about boxing know who won when I fought against Julio Cesar Chavez, but that is a matter of the past,in this moment I am focused on defeating Alvarez.” Since fighting Chavez, Cuello has won three straight and seized the WBC Latin championship. He will arrive in Guadalajara on Monday.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
