World ranked Alex ‘Pollo’ De Jesus (19-1, 13 KOs) of Puerto Rico was handed his first defeat by Argentinian Cesar Cuenca (36-0, 1 KO) last night in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Several sources who were present for the fight stated that De Jesus had Cuenca in trouble several times throughout the fight and deserved the decision. In the end however the judges (Argentina, Uruguay, and Brasil) scores were 116-112, 117-113, and 118-115 in favor of Cuenca by 12 round unanimous decision. With the win Cuenca is now the WBO Latino junior welterweight champion.
