Culcay takes aim at first pro title

Unbeaten jr middleweight Jack Culcay (11-0, 7 KOs) is one of the biggest hopes of German boxing. He now has the chance of adding his first professional international title to the amateur world championship medal he won in 2009. On August 25 at the o2 World in Berlin, Culcay will fight it out for the vacant WBA Intercontinental light middleweight belt against Frederic Serre (13-6, 3 KOs) from France. “I am ready for the fight,” said Culcay. “My preparation has been going well and I am really looking forward to get going…obviously, I want to keep my winning streak alive. But it gets tougher with every fight as the opposition is getting stronger…he already had two title bouts in his career and lost both of them. He won’t want that to happen again.”

For 18 years, Fightnews.com® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
