Former welterweight and jr middleweight world champion Daniel Santos (32-4-1, 23 KOs), who hasn’t fought since he lost his 154lb title to Yuri Foreman in November 2009, is considering the possibility of returning to action in early 2013 according to a credible source.
“The man is in great physical condition and has been training for the past few months in the Olympic Village and now in Bayamon. This is perhaps his last chance and he must get on the bus. If everything goes well, as expected, he should be fighting for a title, at middleweight, sometime in the coming year,” said the source. “You know that Santos’ career has had ups and downs because he is an uncomfortable southpaw and has also had management problems but it seems to me that there is enough gasoline left to become world champion again.”
