Darchinyan-Martinez March 6

Ray Wheatley–World of Boxing

WBC/WBA super flyweight champion Vic Darchinyan will be back in the ring in California on March 6 against the American Raul Martinez (25-1, 15 KOs) and after that he will be after Noninto Donaire who holds a knockout win over the Australian based Armenian. Martinez’s only loss was in April last year and was to Donaire. Darchinyan will fight in Australia after the March fight. He will be in action again in April or May on a promotion that will also feature IBO cruiserweight world champion Danny Green. Darchinyan said, “I would love to fight in Australia, the Nonito Donaire rematch could be in June.” (Donaire stopped Darchinyan in five rounds in 2007) Darchinyan continues, “That’s what I want, I have been waiting for that fight (with Donaire) a long time already. I love fighting very often.” Darchinyan is managed by Elias Nasser and promoted by Gary Shaw.

    Help Support Fightnews.com®

For 18 years, Fightnews.com® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
