Darchinyan still hungry. Wants revenge vs. Donaire next

Two division former world champion Vic “Raging Bull” Darchinyan is hungrier than ever and looking for a big fight against Nonito Donaire. The two first met in 2007 with Donaire defeating Darchinyan and taking his world title and undefeated record in the process. “Losing my first fight to Nonito was a shock to everyone including me,” said Darchinyan. “It’s a loss I badly want to avenge.”

Darchinyan’s latest fight resulted in a fourth round TKO win over Javier Gallo. “I felt good in there. I got the rust out and now I’m ready for a big fight,” he said. “Fighting Nonito Donaire would have special significance for me. It’s the rematch I always wanted.”

Manager Frank Espinoza thinks the fight can easily be made. “They’re both with Top Rank Promotions and the timing’s right for both of them,” Espinoza stated. “Vic is very motivated for this fight. Every fighter wants a chance to avenge a loss.”

Donaire, who’s been taking time off to be with his wife and newborn, is due back in the ring soon. “I deserved the rematch when I first lost to Nonito,” said Darchinyan. “I know he’s planning to return. I’m here, ready and willing. I want to finally get my revenge.”

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
