Top UK promoters Dave Coldwell and Eddie Hearn have teamed up to co-promote a big show at the Liverpool Olympia on Sept. 21st. Topping the bill that will feature Liam Smith-Eric Ochieng for the vacant British light-middleweight title, will be Derry Mathews defending his Commonwealth lightweight title against “Troll Hunter” and former football player Curtis Woodhouse.
The show will also feature the always-exciting Rocky Fielding in action, as well as former Olympian Thomas Stalker (both against TBA). The lightweight main event figures to send the fans home happy though.
“This has all the feel of a real throwback fight and what better city to hold it than Liverpool,” Hearn said. “Matthews-Woodhouse is expected to be a brutal affair.”
Matthews, 33-8-2(18) is coming off that sensational one-punch stoppage of Tommy Coyle back on the 13th of this month, in a fight he was losing. Woodhouse 19-5(13) has won his last two fights in quick order, having dropped down to 135-pounds.
The Sept. 21st card will be completed by Callum Smith and fellow unbeaten Robbie Davies Junior in action against TBAs.
