Dawson and Kalakoda collide again

By Brett Bonetti

Former two time world title challenger Daniel “The Rock” Dawson (36-3 -1, 24 KOs) is back in action tonight when he faces South Africa’s Virgil Kalakoda (25-6-3) for the PABA & Pan African Middleweight Titles at the WA Italian Club, North Perth Australia tonight. The winner of this fight gains a top 5 ranking in the WBA and will be opened to opportunities for a fight with Anthony “The Man” Mundine or current world champion Austin Trout. Dawson and Kalakoda fought to an exciting draw over 12 rounds in July this year in what many felt Dawson did enough to earn a points decision, however Kalakoda came on stronger during the later rounds to earn the draw. Judges scored that bout 115-113 Dawson, 116-112 Kalakoda, 114-114.

Heavyweight KO artist Lucas “Big Daddy” Browne (9-0, 8 KO’s) will be looking for another KO tonight and exciting Super Middleweight prospect Luke Sharp (2-0) is also on the card.

Hear and see what Daniel Dawson and Lucas Browne have to say leading into their fights tonight.

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
