Oscar De La Hoya and WBA vice president Gilberto Jesus Mendoza posed to the Panamanian media, wearing special made gloves in colors gold and white with their names written on. Mr. Mendoza and the Golden Boy are scheduled to have an exhibition bout on Saturday night at the Arena Roberto Duran in Panama as a part of the KO Drugs Festival. WBA will donate $100 for every punch connected by Gilberto to De La Hoya on favor of the Panamanian Association Against Cancer. After this charity sparring session, Oscar will autograph the set of gloves to be offered on a bid for that same purpose. De La Hoya had his first public appearance in Panama at the weigh-in ceremony for Saturday’s card in which Mexican Omar Salado and Panamanian Luis “El Nica” Concepción both weighed 112 for their flyweight interim championship bout.
