Classy Australian heavyweight Mark de Mori (19-1-2, 17 KOs) stopped American journeyman Troy “Country Boy” Weida (46-24-2, 33 KOs) in round three of a scheduled ten round bout at the St Marys Band Club, St Marys, NSW, Australia. The 6’2 de Mori is managed by Don King and is coming off a four round stoppage of Rob Calloway of the USA in March. Weida, 6’3, lost to Alex Leapai in 2011. Weida, 39 years, has been in action with several world class heavyweights including Ray Mercer and Orlin Norris.
In other action light heavyweight Kariz Kariuki (25-10-2, 19 KOs) outscored Joel Bourke (14-23-2,7KO’s) over six rounds. Kariuki was born in Kenya but has been based in Australia since the Sydney 2000 Olympics where he represented Kenya. Kariuki recently boxed in the USA where Edison Miranda stopped him in five rounds.
Also light welterweight Jack “The Hammer”Brubaker(2-0,1KO) outpointed Mark Sarrancino (1-2-1) over four rounds.
Cruiserweight Shane Quinn (1-0) outworked Kyle Brumby (1-7) over four rounds.
