The WBC will seek to decide its next president on February 11 to replace the recently deceased Jose Sulaiman, who headed the organization for 38 years. In addition to odds on favorite Mauricio Sulaiman, Rex Walker, General Kovid Bhakdibhumi, Bob Logist, Mauro Betti, Houcine Houichi and Charles Giles are also candidates. The choice will come from a vote shaped by 26 members representing 10 WBC confederations (each having two votes) plus the vote of the six vice presidents. The new president must get 75 percent of the vote, representing 19 to 19.5 of the 26 available votes. The election will be held at the Camino Real Hotel in Mexico City. The WBC Board of Governors has not yet decided if the press will be admitted. Regardless of the winner, there are indications that the WBC wants to keep its headquarters in Mexico City.
