On Thursday night at the Remington Park Racing Casino in, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, unbeaten welterweight standout, Vitaliy Demyanenko (21-0, 12 KOs), won a lopsided unanimous decision against journeyman Roberto Valenzuela (65-64-2, 32 KOs). Demyanenko faced a weight disadvantage as Valenzuela didnt make the contracted weight, however, from the opening round Demyanenko controlled the fight with constant pressure and hard combinations. Although the bout went the distance, Valenzuela never was in the fight. The scorecards read 60-54 across the board.
In the main event unbeaten Haskell Rhodes of Oklahoma now (11-0, 6 KOs) stopped Alejandro Lopez (5-5, 1 KO) in round one. The normally durable Lopez had previously never been stopped inside the distance.
