WBA flyweight champion Denkaosan Kaovichit (47-1-1, 20 KOs) barely retained his title as he won a twelve round split decision over WBA#12 Hiroyuki Hisataka (17-8-1, 6 KOs) on Tuesday at the Central Stadium of Uttaradit Province, Thailand. The bout was a close affair in the first six rounds with the champion dominating a little with his aggression, mostly hunting the Japanese who also displayed his effective counterpunches. The champion looked weakened from round eight which caused his foe to come back and gained the score, especially at the last two rounds. The Thai fighter was also deducted a point for his foul punches repeated at the back of the challenger’s head in round eight. Scored : Stanley Christodoulou (South Africa) 115-112, Kwang Tak Yoon (Korea) 115-112 for Denkaosan, Silvestre Abainza (Philippines) 115-113 for Hisataka. In other action, Fonluang Sor Tanapinyo (7-0,2 KOs) won a unanimous decision over Safwan Lombok in a six round non-title bout. This event was promoted by Galaxy Boxing Promotion.
