Diablo Włodarczyk vs. Giacobbe Fragomeni for WBC title: Let’s do it again – in Chicago

Report and photo: Przemek Garczarczyk

“Yes, I can confirm that Krzysztof Włodarczyk (48-2, 34 KO) will defend his World Boxing Council cruiserweight title on December 6, in downtown Chicago’s UIC Pavilion against WBC mandatory contender, Italy’s Giacobbe Fragomeni (31-3, 12 KO). We are finalizing US TV right as we speak,” said Andrzej Wasilewski, “Diablo’s” promoter from Ulrich KnockOut Promotions.

This will be the third confrontation between these fighters. In May of 2009 in Rome, Fragomeni was awarded a highly controversial draw, but almost exactly a year later in Łódź, Poland, Włodarczyk knocked him out in the eighth round of their rematch. Since draw against Fragomeni, Włodarczyk has won seven straight fights, most recently a spectacular KO win over Russia’s Beijing Olympic champion, previously undefeated Rakhim Chakhiev (16-1, 12 KO)

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
