Dib defeats Elliott

Former Australian super featherweight champion Billel “Baby Face” Dib (14-1, 5 KOs) clearly outscored Brent Elliott (11-5-3) over twelve rounds to capture the interim WBO Oriental title at the Emporium Function Centre, Bankstown, NSW, Australia on Saturday. Scores Mick Heafey 118-110, Brian McMahon 118-110, Bernie McMahon 119-109. Dib’s suffered his his only loss to Dylan Sendeckyi in a 2012 Australian title bout but reversed that loss in 2013 to capture the national crown.

In main supporting bout, light middleweight Ahmed Dib (14-0, 8 KOs) outpointed Michael Dan (3-10-1, 1 KO) over eight rounds in NSW state title bout. Scores 77-75, 80-72, 78-75.

Also cruiserweight prospect Shane Quinn (9-1-1,7KO) stopped Brett Peters ( 7-2, 6 KOs) in round one of scheduled six round contest. Referee Mick Heafey called it off at 2:19.

In other action, 140-pounder Dylan Emery (10-0, 4 KOs) remained unbeaten when he stopped Ray Thompson (1-5) in round two of scheduled six. Referee Mick Heafey crowned Emery at 1.47 after Thompson had visited the canvas. Emery was born in New Zealand but turned professional in Australia.

Light middleweight Tony Senior (5-0, 4 KOs) stopped Reza Taher Abadi 0-3) in round one of scheduled four.

Middleweight Mathias Collados (6-2) stopped Amir Ghasemi Tabar (0-7) in round two of a scheduled three round bout.

Light heavyweight Rabih Derbas ((2-0, 2 KOs) stopped Salar Odaj (0-2) in round two of scheduled three. Referee Charlie Lucas called it off at 1:20.

Heavyweight Danny Abbas (1-0,1KO) stopped Dennis Idehen(0-1) in round two of a three round contest Idehen was down in round two and referee Charlie Lucas crowned Abbas at 1:44.
