Former IBF featherweight champion Billy Dib is confident he will be victorious on Friday when he will clash with former IBO champion Mike Oliver over ten rounds at Hartford, Connecticut. The Australian is coming off a split decision loss to American-based Russian Evgeny Gradovich, who took his IBF championship belt. Dib is after a rematch with Gradovich if he defeats the veteran Oliver (25-3, 8 KOs). “This is a huge opportunity for me to right some wrongs. I am desperate to get my belt back,” Dib said. “Everything happens for a reason. I was meant to lose that fight to Gradovich, but I truly believe that when we meet again I will beat him convincingly and regain the title that is rightfully mine. I am not overlooking Mike Oliver. He is a very good boxer with a strong record, and he’ll be fighting in his home town so I’ll have the crowd against me. But I am not here to bolster other fighters’ records. I am here to be a dominant champion and win titles, and that is what I plan to do by defeating Oliver and then getting revenge over Gradovich.”

Billy Dib is managed by his brother, Emaid who is confident Billy will be impressive against Oliver. “Billy has been performing at his brilliant best in training and I am expecting him to bring his ‘A Game’ to the ring on Friday.” The promoter is 50 Cent. The bout will be televised on ESPN2.

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
