Australia’s IBF featherweight king Billy Dib (34-1, 21 KOs) will fight Mexican southpaw Juan Antonio Rodriguez (21-3, 19 KOs) in a super featherweight bout at Campsie in Sydney, NSW, Australia on July 13. Rodriguez is a former WBC youth featherweight world champion Rodriguez – who has lost just one of his past 18 contests. Dib captured the IBF title in 2011 by defeating Jorge Laciervia and defended successfully against Alberto Servedei and Eduardo Escobedo in 2012.
“I’m chasing some big fights,” Dib said. “A dream fight for me would be against WBO 130 pound champion, Adrien Broner, who is being groomed as the next Floyd Mayweather in America, that’s the fight I’m chasing at super featherweight.”
Dib will have to make a IBF 126 pound mandatory defense of his title in December against the winner of the Luis Franco vs Gary Russell Jr.
On the same card fellow Aussie Joel Brunker (22-0, 13 KOs) will fight Mexican Edgar Riovalle (34-13-1, 24 KOs).
