Former amateur standout, middleweight Edwin Rodriguez was signed up to an exclusive promotional contract by DiBella Entertainment on Thursday night at a formal gathering and press conference at Mechanics Hall in Worcester, MA, the boxer’s hometown. The 23-year-old, Dominican-born Rodriguez (9-0, 6 KOs) as a pro, won gold medals at the 2005 USA Boxing Nationals Championships and at the 2006 National Golden Gloves Championship.
Featherweight Abraham Lopez (5-0, 4 KOs) has signed with southern California-based Thompson Boxing Promotions. He will make his debut under the promotional firm’s banner on February 27 at the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario, CA. Lopez is managed by Frank Espinoza.
Promoter Dino Duva has signed highly-regarded heavyweight prospect Bedarin “Rini” Toma, who will make his professional debut on February 25, at BB Kings Blues Club and Grill on 42nd Street in Manhattan. Toma, a native of Lexha, Albania, who fights out of Astoria, Queens, is a two time New Jersey Golden Gloves champion.
