Universum heavyweight Alexander “Sascha” Dimitrenko (29-1, 19 KOs) is looking forward to getting a crack at European champion Audley “A-Force” Harrison. Dimitrenko was already named the official EBU challenger prior to Harrison’s bout with Michael Sprott for the vacant belt, a bout that ended with a spectacular twelfth round come-from-behind knockout by Harrison. “I followed the fight live on the Internet and have to say that it was a very high level bout. Both had nothing else to give. A very interesting fight for me. Harrison was clearly behind on points. He could only win by KO and that he actually did it was very impressive. He’ll be a good opponent for me. I’m look forward to a great fight. I think I can keep Harrison in check.”
Dimitrenko feels a win over Harrison would put his defeat to Eddie Chambers in July 2009 behind him. “That was a one-time aberration,” continued Sascha. “I’ve done an honest analysis and have always kept fit. I now have a new trainer in Michael Timm, who has produced many world champions including heavyweight champion Ruslan Chagaev. We’ve put together a good program and now I can again go for the heavyweight championship. I’m excited about the opportunity.
“I’ve discussed it with my promoter Klaus-Peter Kohl and a fight for the European Championship crown is the fight we want. I’m very much looking forward to it. Harrison demonstrated that he’s in good shape, but I’ll defeat him. I’ll be European champion. Of that I’m sure. His second match against Sprott was a very good fight, but not magic. I am ready for Audley!”
