In a move that is sure to add some excitement to the heavyweight division, Belarusian heavyweight contender Siarhei Liakhovich (23-3, 14 KOs) just announced that he has just signed a promotional deal with Don King Promotions yesterday. The move is sure to revitalize the career of Liakhovich and add some much needed excitement to the heavyweight division. “I think many people are underestimating Don King,” commented Liakhovich after the signing, “Don is an old school promoter and he will always be Don King. He opens many doors and give many opportunities.”
Liakhovich has been rehabilitating from injuries and has been training hard in the previous months, and many fans feel that another title fight is hardly out of the question for the popular brawler from Belarus. Liakhovich has indicated that his weight is at 235 pounds, lower than it was when he fought Lamon Brewster to win the WBO world title back in 2006. But even with a world title on his resume and a world class promoter in his corner, Liakhovich recognizes that it will be a hard road back to the top.
“Even with Don, it won’t be easy,” commented Liakhovich, “but without him it would be a very long road.”
Still, Liakhovich is confident that with Don King Promotions, another world title fight will emerge in the near future.
“Right now I know it is up to me to work hard and go into the ring and do my job,” commented Liakhovich, “I know the road to the top is not easy but I am ready to take it.”
