WBC featherweight “champion in recess” Elio Enai Rojas (22-1,13 KOs) will be making his return to ring action after over a year and seven months of inactivity, fighting in his native town of San Francisco de Macoris vs an opponent TBA on September 17th.

In another interesting card, on September 5th in the capital city of Santo Domingo, Dominican-based Venezuelan jr middleweight Jean Carlos Prada (25-0-1, 18 KOs) will be facing his first serious test when he crosses gloves with experienced Dominican spoiler David Toribio (19-12, 12 KOs) for the WBA Fedebol title held by Prada.

Said Toribio in a press conference held Friday in Santo Domingo, “this is not about who has the prettiest record; they put me against prospect Melvin Betancourt who was 20-0 and I knocked him out in eight rounds. Prada is going to be in a real fight for the first time in his life.”

On the same card promoted by Domini Boxing, power-punching welterweight prospect Vladimir Baez (15-0-1,13 KOs) will face stylist Ramon Duran (20-3-1, 13 KOs) for the vacant national Dominican title.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
