Today in Los Angeles, the super powers of the junior featherweight and the junior welterweight divisions — four-division world champion Nonito “Filipino Flash” Donaire, super bantamweight champion Toshiaki Nishioka, former world lightweight champion Brandon “Bam Bam” Rios and #1 contender “Mile High” Mike Alvarado — got their first look at each other when they faced off at the kick-off news conference announcing their October 13 mega-fight doubleheader taking place under the stars at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.
Brandon Rios: It’s going to be a bloody, violent fight…it’s not going the distance.
Mike Alvarado: This is the fight I’ve been waiting for…it just comes down to who’s the best man that night.
Toshiaki Nishioka: I would like for both of us to be in the best condition and also put on the best fight possible, and I plan to win.
Nonito Donaire: He’s been in this weight class for such a long time and leading the way, and on October 13th I will do my best to prove that I am better.
