WBO junior featherweight champion Nonito “Filipino Flash” Donaire and undefeated WBA super bantamweight champion and former two-time Cuban Olympic gold medalist Guillermo “El Chacal” Rigondeaux have arrived in New York City to announce their HBO-televised April 13 world title unification bout at Radio City Music Hall. The fight is scheduled to be officially announced at a kickoff press conference presided over by Top Rank President Todd duBoef. Prior to the presser, the fighters are supposed to pose for photos atop the Radio City Music Hall marquee.
However on Wednesday night Donaire issued an ultimatum to the Rigondeaux camp. Using Twitter, “The Filipino Flash” announced that if Rigondeaux doesn’t sign an agreement for voluntary drug testing, their April 13 showdown in New York City is off. “How much more stalling? They got the translation Tues am and its taking them until Thurs to sign it. Their games end before the press con with the signing of the VADA agreement or the fight is off,” tweeted Donaire, who also tweeted that Rigondeaux’s manager Gary Hyde assured that his client had consented to VADA testing.
