Dunkin inks Maxim Vlasov

By Francisco Salazar

Super middleweight contender Maxim Vlasov recently signed a managerial contract with Cameron Dunkin. The Las Vegas-based manager sent an email to late last night announcing the signing of Vlasov. Vlasov (23-1, 12 KOs), from Samara, Russia, is ranked number nine by the WBC and 12th by the WBO. He has won his last four bouts in a row since his only defeat at the hands of Isaac Chilemba last February. In that bout, Vlasov had Chilemba down twice in losing a close 10 round unanimous decision. His most notable victory was a third round knockout over former fringe contender Jerson Ravelo in June of 2010.

The 25 year old Vlasov is eager to move forward with Dunkin guiding his career. “Cameron Dunkin possessed unique knowledge, intense experience, (and) has very well deserved respect in sports and media circles and I’m so proud to work with him,” stated Vlasov in a written email. “I’m sincerely welcome our partnership and believe it would be long-term, honest and mutually beneficiary for both of us.” No word yet on when or whom Vlasov will fight next.

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
