Dunne announces retirement

Brian Peters Promotions

Former WBA super bantamweight champion Bernard Dunne has decided to hang up his gloves. “After a lot of thought and reflection the time has finally come to bring my career as a professional boxer to an end,” said Dunne. “For the past 25 years boxing has been my life but now it is time for a fresh start….to win a world title is something I will never forget and something I am so proud of and I would like to thank everyone who helped make that possible.” Dunne’s promoter Brian Peters added, “Bernard’s decision to hang up his gloves has my full backing and support. We’ve had a number of discussions since Bernard lost his world title last September and having scaled the heights he has as a world and European champion he believes that now is the right time to walk away and I am 100% behind that decision.”
Dunne finishes with a record of 28-2, 15 KOs.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
