Unbeaten WBA #10/IBF #12/WBO #13 welterweight contender Mike Jones (18-0, 15 KOs) won a ten round unanimous decision over late sub Lennin Arroyo (20-10-1, 4 KOs) to defend his NABA title on Saturday night at Bally’s Atlantic City. Jones landed hellacious shots against the very game Arroyo, who showed an amazing chin to battle for the full ten. Scores were 99-91, 99-91, 98-92. Arroyo had stepped in for Ben Tackie, who had stepped in for Larry Mosley, Jones’ original opponent.
Former Dominican Olympian super middleweight contender Jerson Ravelo (20-4, 12 KOs) took an uninspiring eight round unanimous decision over Willis Lockett (12-9, 5 KOs) by scores of 80-72, 79-73, 77-75.
Unbeaten junior welterweight Ronald Cruz (6-0, 4 KOs) scored a stoppage at the end of round three due to an ear injury suffered by Julias Edmonds (5-5).
Junior middleweight Jamaal Davis (10-5, 6 KOs) outpointed Manuel Guzman (6-8-1, 2 KOs) over six by scores of 58-56, 58-56, 60-54.
