In a WBC featherweight eliminator, former world champion Jhonny González (43-7, 37 KOs) scored a two round demolition of Anthony “T-Rex” Davis (26-6, 13 KOs) on Saturday night at “The City” Discotheque in Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico. González was all over Davis in round one and finished the job in the second when he dropped Davis four times before the bout was waved off by referee Jose Luis Garcia. Time was 2:31. González is now in line for a shot at WBC 126lb champion Elio Rojas.
WBC #4 middleweight Marco Antonio “Veneno” Rubio (45-6, 40 KOs) scored a brutal second round KO over Jaison Palomeque (13-4, 7 KOs). The hard-hitting Rubio floored Palomeque with a left hook in round one and finished the job with two more vicious knockdowns in round two.
In a near upset, highly regarded bantamweight prospect Carlos Cuadras (15-0, 13 KOs) had all he could handle with hard-nosed journeyman Alberto “Malachito” Chuc (13-14, 10 KOs), barely taking an eight round split decision.
Featherweight Sergio “Yeyo” Thompson (12-1, 11 KOs) blew out overmatched Hugo Pacheco (7-13-1, 7 KOs) in the first round of a scheduled ten. Time was 2:23.
