Gomez defeats Granados

Unbeaten lightweight KO artist Frankie “Pitbull” Gomez (11-0, 8 KOs) traveled to the backyard of Adrian Granados (8-2-1, 5 KOs) and scored a hard fought eight round majority decision on Friday night at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago. Gomez floored Granados with a right hand at the end of round two and landed more bombs in round three. The gutsy Granados weathered the storm, however, and fought hard the whole eight rounds. Scores were 78-73, 77-74, 76-76.

Unbeaten lightweight Omar Figueroa (13-0-1, 10 KOs) scored a spectacular second round KO over Marcos Herrera (6-7-1, 2 KOs). Figueroa dropped Herrera in round two and then laid him out with a huge left hand later in the round. Time was 1:19.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
