Paris KOs Coleman in 7

By Francisco Salazar at ringside

In a grudge match, undefeated junior welterweight Vernon “The Iceman” Paris (25-0, 15 KOs) scored a seventh round KO over Tim “The Pitbull” Coleman (19-2-1, 5 KOs) on Friday night at the Chumash Casino in Santa Ynez, California. Coleman dropped Paris in round two, but Paris came back to put Coleman down twice with body shots in round six. The fight ended in round seven when Paris put Coleman on the deck again with another body shot.

The battle between undefeated junior lightweight Art “Lionheart” Hovhannisyan (14-0-2, 8 KOs) and former world champion Cristobal “Lacandon” Cruz (39-12-3, 23 KOs) ended in a four round technical draw. The fight was stopped due to a head clash that left Cruz with a vertical cut over the right eye. Scores were 39-37, 37-39 and 38-38.

Featherweight contender Luis Franco (10-0, 6 KO’s) stopped Adolfo Landeros after the fourth round of a scheduled eight round bout. There were no knockdowns in the fight, but it was all Franco as he landed at will against the durable Landeros (21-21-2, 10 KO’s). After the fourth round ended, Landeros’ corner advised referee Raul Caiz, Sr. to stop the fight.

Unbeaten lightweight Michael Faragon (16-0, 7 KOs) scored a nice second round TKO over Ira Terry (24-6, 14 KOs). Referee Raul Caiz waved it off at 2:32.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
