Baysangurov defeats Konecny to retain title

WBO jr middleweight champion Zaurbek Baysangurov (28-1, 20 KOs) retained his title with a hard fought twelve round unanimous decision over interim titleholder Lukas Konecny (48-4, 23 KOs) on Saturday night at the Sport Palace in Kiev, Ukraine. Konecny suffered a bad cut over his left eye at the start of the last round. Scores were 119-109, 118-110 and 117-111.

Experienced junior middleweight Dmitry Nikulin (25-1, 8 KOs) outboxed Uzbek Fayschullo Ahmedov (10-11-1, 5 KOs) in an eight-rounder. Nikulin due to his speed and technique easily defeated Ahmetovby by scores of 78-74, 79-73, 79-74. Fightnews scored it 79-73.

German light havyweight Dominique Boesel (8-0, 2 KOs) easily defeated Slovakian Vladimir Tazik (4-19-1) by unanimous decision. Throughout the fight Basil severely battered an opponent who managed to finish the fight on his feet. Scores were 60-54 (twice) and 60-50. Fightnews score 60-54 for Boesel.

K2 welterweight Dmitriy Semernin (9-0-1, 3 KOs) battled to a splt decision draw against Georgian Ambrosi Sutidze (9-2-4, 2 KOs). The Ukrainian boxer was stronger in the first part of the fight, but Sutidze came on late. Throughout the fight, Semernin was troubled by serious cuts over both eyes. Scores were 76-76, 78-74, 76-78. Fightnews scored it 78-76 for Sutidze.

Ukrainian light heavyweight boxer Alexander Cherviak (10-2-1,3 KOs) in a spectacular battle defeated Azerbaijan journeyman Ravshanbek Jabbarov (10-4-1, 5 KOs) by split decision 77-75, 78-74 and 75-78. Fightnews score 78-74 for Cherviak.

Ukrainian light heavyweight journeyman Alexey Koziy (4-2, 2 KOs) upset previously undefeated puncher Oleg Nekrasov (6-1-1, 6 KOs). After six intense rounds, it was a unanimous decision win for Koziy 59-55 (twice) and 59-56. Fightnews scored it 59-55 for Koziy.
