Welterweight Freddy “El Riel” Hernandez (26-1, 18 KOs) outworked Damian “Devo” Frias (16-2, 7 KOs) over ten workmanlike rounds on Friday night at the Laredo Entertainment Center in Laredo, Texas. Hernandez did some good bodywork, but never really opened up. Frias’ best round was the tenth, but it was too little too late. Scores were 98-92 on all cards.
In a battle of world-ranked contenders, undefeated super bantamweight IBF #7 Victor “Vitino” Fonseca (17-0, 9 KOs) beat down WBA #7 Al “The Quiet Storm” Seeger (28-5, 22 KOs) over nine rounds. Fonseca simply mugged Seeger in the ninth round, battering him to the deck to get the stoppage. Time was 1:41.
Olympian featherweight Gary Russell Jr. moved to 5-0, 2 KOs after a four round unanimous decision over Noe Lopez (4-4).

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
