After battling to a draw in their first fight, unbeaten welterweight Shawn “Showtime” Porter (22-0-1, 14 KOs) and former world champion Julio “The Kidd” Diaz (40-9-1, 29 KOs) went ten hard round rounds again on Thursday night in the Premier Ballroom located in the MGM Grand Conference Center in Las Vegas. This time, Porter outworked Diaz to win by scores of 98-92, 97-93, 97-93. The NABO and USBA welterweight titles were on the line.
Unbeaten super middleweight Badou Jack (15-0-1, 10 KOs) and Marco Antonio Periban (20-1-1, 13 KOs) fought to a ten round majority draw in a clash for the NABF title. Periban suffered a nasty cut over his right eye midway. Scores were 95-95, 95-95 and 96-94 Periban.
A clash of unbeaten 154-pounders ended in a no-contest after a head clash in round four opened cuts on both Julian “J-Rock” Williams (13-0-1, 10 KOs) and Hugo “The Boss” Centeno Jr. (19-0, 10 KOs) in a bout for the WBC International super welterweight title. Williams was in command to that point.
Unbeaten super welterweight Jermall Charlo (16-0, 12 KOs) scored a seventh round stoppage over game Rogelio De La Torre (10-4, 6 KOs). Bout waved off after Charlo scored a knockdown.
2012 U.S. Olympian welterweight Errol Spence (8-0, 7 KOs) scored a first round KO over Jesus Tavera (5-4, 1 KO). Tavera down twice.
Pro debuting super bantamweight Diego de la Hoya (1-0, 1 KO) scored a third round KO over Luis Cosme (8-4, 3 KOs). Diego is a nephew of Oscar de la Hoya.
Lightweight Robert Easter Jr. (7-0, 7 KOs) scored a first round KO over Lance Williams (6-2, 6 KOs). Easter was a 2012 U.S. Olympic Team alternate.
2012 U.S. Olympian middleweight Terrell Gausha (6-0, 4 KOs) scored a first round KO over Bruce Runkle (4-3-1).
2012 U.S. Olympian heavyweight Dominic Breazeale (7-0, 7 KOs) won by third round KO over John Hill (6-3, 5 KOs).
