Unbeaten Frankie Gomez stopped veteran Jaime Orrantia (13-27-5, 4 KO’s) in the first round of a scheduled four round fight. Gomez was on the attack on Orrantia, but the veteran fighter was able to make Gomez missed. Although he tried to counter, Orrantia would miss, allowing Gomez (4-0, 4 KO’s) to go back on the attack. Gomez landed a right uppercut, sending Orrantia back against the ropes, prompting referee Pat Russell to stop the fight. Orrantia was not visibly hurt, prompting some in the crowd to boo the stoppage.
