Light heavyweight Enrique Ornelas (30-6, 20 KOs) rebounded from a December loss to Bernard Hopkins with a nice fourth round KO over Julius Fogle (15-4, 10 KOs) on Thursday night at Club Nokia in downtown Los Angeles. A huge left hook brought down the 38-year-old Fogle at the 1:12 mark of the fourth.
“The Contender’s” Deon Elam (11-1, 5 KOs) won a four round unanimous decision over Andre Hemphill (8-15-2, 5 KOs) in a cruiserweight bout. Elam dropped Hemphill at the end of round four and much to the fighters’ surprise they were informed that the bout had been cut from a six- to a four-rounder. Scores were 40-35, 40-35, 39-36.
Bantamweight Khabir Suleymanov (10-0, 4 KOs) outpointed journeyman Benji Garcia (14-14-3, 1 KO) over six rounds. Scores were 60-54, 59-55, 59-55.
Junior lightweight Luis Martinez (2-3-1) won a four-round majority nod over Juan Sandoval (1-2, 1 KO) by scores of 40-46, 40-46, 38-38.
Light heavyweight Hiromitsu Miura (2-0) scored a one-sided four round unanimous decision over Nathan Bedwell (0-2). Scores were 40-36, 39-37, 39-37.
Pro debuting junior middleweight Roberto Reyes (1-0, 1 KO) destroyed Azamat Umarzoda (0-1) with a left hook in round one. Time was 2:45.
