Three division world champion and Mexican boxing legend Erik Morales (50-6, 35 KOs) returned to knock out Willie Limond (33-3, 8 KOs) in round six on Saturday night at the Monumental Plaza de Toros Mexico in Mexico City. Morales seemed to shake off the ring rust after a few rounds and finally dropped Limond three times with body shots in round six to end it. Time was 2:46.
In a clash for the WBC International flyweight belt, former WBC 108lb world champion champion Edgar Sosa (40-6, 24 KOs) stopped reigning titleholder Ryan Bito (18-7-3, 6 KOs) in round ten. After building a commanding lead on the cards, Sosa dropped Bito twice in round ten with body shots and the bout was waved off. Time was 2:05.
WBC female super flyweight champion Ana Maria Torres (22-3-2, 13 KOs) dominated WIBF/GBU super lightweight titleholder Alesia Graf (24-2, 9 KOs) over ten rounds. Torres dropped Graf twice in round three but the outgunned Graf battled bravely to the end. Scores were 100-88 on all cards.
Unbeaten Lightweight Carlos Zarate Jr. (10-0, 7 KOs) remained undefeated with a third round TKO over Luis Lopez.
Bantamweight prospect Gerardo Marin (7-1, 7 KOs) scored a knockout victory over Ignacio Virrueta.
The fight card at the Monumental Plaza de Toros Mexico in Mexico City is underway about five thousand boxing and a little rain coming down on the “Mexican Fiesta” card.
