Former WBA world champion Clarence “Bones” Adams (44-7-4, 20 KOs) was stopped in round four by Mexican veteran Edel “Cuate” Ruiz (34-22-4, 24 KOs) on Friday night in front of another sold out crowd at Miccosukee Resort and Gaming in Miami, Florida. The bout was waved off after Ruiz had dropped Bones twice. Time was 1:55. Ruiz claimed the vacant WBO NABA belt.
Former world title challenger and WBA #9, WBO #12 and IBF #13 bantamweight William “Chirizo” Gonzalez (24-3, 20 KOs) pounded out a twelve round unanimous decision over Jesus “Taquero” Vazquez (19-4-1-17 KOs). The hard-hitting Gonzalez dropped Vazquez in round two and went on to win by scores of 117-110, 119-108, 119-108. With the win, Gonzalez claimed the vacant WBO Latin bantamweight title.
In other action, 2004 Cuban Olympian Luis Franco (4-0, 4 KOs) scored a second round stoppage of Anthony Napunyi (14-9) in a featherweight clash.
