Coleman shocks Arnaoutis

Jr welterweight Tim “Pit Bull” Coleman (17-1-1, 4 KOs) won a controversial twelve round split decision over “Mighty” Mike Arnaoutis (22-4-2, 10 KOs) to claim the vacant USBA title on Thursday night at New York City’s famous Manhattan Center. Scores were 115-113, 115-113 for Coleman, 116-112 for Arnaoutis, who seemed to do more in the bout.

Former heavyweight champion Shannon Briggs (49-5-1, 43 KOs) knocked out Marcus McGee (22-18, 11 KOs) with a shot to the ribs at 2:01 of round one.

In a battle of unbeaten welterweights, former three-time National Golden Gloves champion Brad Solomon (9-0, 3 KOs) won an eight round majority decision over “The New” Ray Robinson (11-1, 4 KOs). Scores were 79-73, 79-73, 76-76.
